Take heed if you've been offered to work for FedEx Malaysia/Singapore/Asia Pacific by a man who goes by the name of Brian Wee Beng Swee or David Martin Wee - it's a job scam for sure and I'm not shitting you.
I was once friends with Brian for a good part of a year plus - only, he told me that his name was David and that Brian Wee Beng Swee was his fictional cousin who works for the Information Ministry's office in Sarawak. I only found out months after his disappearance that David and Brian are one and the same person.
With regards to the job scam, Brian had on several occasions urged me to apply to a "newly-approved" communications position at FedEx Malaysia/Singapore that would pay me between USD6,000 to USD8,000 and require me to be based in Singapore. However, I never did get to apply for said position because there would always be some sort of "issue" with management that would result in the position not being available until things were ironed out.
A friend and at least two other people I know were also told by David that there were suitable vacancies in FedEx for people with their skill sets.
Fortunately neither of us were gullible enough to leave our jobs without securing a new one in black and white.
Most recently, it has been made known to me that Brian has upped his game by forging offer letters from FedEx to get his victims to believe that he is the important person that he claims to be within the company. These victims not only lost money to him, some even quit their jobs because they believed that they had a better one waiting for them at FedEx! And as usual, Brian will skip away from his friends' lives when they start to suspect that something was amiss.
I am not sure what is the point of this job offering charade he does since it's clear that it's money that he wants from his victims. It is unnecessary, mean and clearly makes him a psychopath.
Here are some details that I can share:
1. His real name is Brian Wee Beng Swee but may alternatively identify himself as David Martin Wee, a high ranking personnel (vice president/director) in FedEx Malaysia/Singapore/Asia Pacific.
2. He is presumed to be aged between 38 and 41.
3. He is a Sarawakian Chinese from Kuching, having formerly studied at the SMB St Joseph Kuching.
4. He claims that a former school mate, Harjit Singh Sandhu handles all his business dealings and legal matters. Harjit is an actual person and lawyer who went to SMB St Joseph Kuching.
5. He claims that his father, an ex police officer, has passed away from a heart attack. He is very much alive.
6. For dramatic effect, pretty much all his family members would die due to a heart attack or an accident throughout the course of his friendship with his victims. His father has died at least four times by now.
7. He claims to be successful, rich and the owner of several properties. These are likely lies.
8. He is bespectacled and is usually dressed very casually - in jeans and a black, short-sleeved Colombia shirt or an MU jersey with strappy Teva-like sandals.
9. His modus operandi is to get close to you, get as much information from you and then introduce you as one of the many characters in his life to his new friends for the purpose of getting them to believe he has contacts in good places or to besmirch their reputation, for whatever reason, but most likely so that you, the victim, will not consider these people trustworthy to approach to seek help/clarification when you learn that you were scammed.
10. Once your trust is gained, he will devise scenarios (like needing funds for his not-yet-dead dad's funeral arrangements) to get you to lend him money which will accumulate over time.
12. You can find his photo in the previous post. He is a tall, burly fellow with tanned skin and bad teeth.
13. Do get in touch if you have information.
Yes, this guy is a conman, he has conned me, my family and friends a substantial sum of money over the course of a year. We have known him since the end of 2016, and we only found out in early November 2017 that he is a con artist. He will go by the name David Martin Wee (his real name is Brian Wee Beng Swee), and he claims he works in a secret Disruption Unit in FedEx (He's the Chief Disruption Officer).
ReplyDeleteHe is very creative in his stories that he makes up (I have to credit him with that)... will spin intricate & outrageous storylines and includes real people that he knows as his characters (most of them are his previous victims)... He will send you selfies or group pictures he took with them before they realize he's a conman, to build your trust, and validate that the people and the stories he spins out are true, by pretending to talk to them on the phone in your presence.
What he actually does, is he sets his phone alarm to ring when you're within hearing shot, then he will pretend to answer the call and carry on a full conversation, validating the person and the scenario he has conjured up in your mind. He is a master of deception, good at manipulating thought processes and feelings, feels no remorse over it, and sees everything and everyone as a pawn to get what he wants, and derives intense pleasure from being able to manipulate someone or a situation, getting away with it scot-free. Classic symptoms of a psychopath.
It has come to my knowledge that he has been using my name, as well as my family and friends' names and pictures to deceive other people. Spinning stories out of us, using our real names and pics, and saying horrible things, incorporating us into his storylines. I would loathe it if anyone thinks that we are accomplices of his. So if anyone hears a character called "Mabel", I would love to hear about it... Meanwhile, beware of this man peeps!
Update: It seems that his parents and brother are innocent and not complicit to his deceitful activities. He just uses their names and bank accounts to get people to transfer money to, and he would retrieve the cash from their respective accounts via an ATM card. So if you are ever asked to transfer money into bank accounts belonging to "Henry Wee Boon Hai" or "Josephine Nosi", and of course, the man himself "Brian Wee Beng Swee", do be aware that this is a scam. A rough estimate from the pool of victims that came forward, he has conned a total of more than half a million ringgit, at least.
I've compiled a list of characters that he usually incorporates in his fictitious storylines (they are all innocent and in no way complicit to his scam jobs, he just takes advantage of their reputation and social standing):
